Tacuinum Tunic

A few weeks before we left for Pennsic, we got the call that Ed's squire brother would be elevated to the Order of Chivalry at Pennsic.  Hmm.... not much time to sew... No problem!

I chose this image from the Tacuinum sanitatis as my inspiration after learning that he has recently been interested in late 14th/early 15th century Italy. Perfect!

I used Cynthia Virtue's theory of constructing a houppelande (found

here

) to achieve the desired fullness in the body and then pieced in the triangular neck to form a high collar with buttons to resemble the men in this image from the same manuscript:

Here is the finished product on the dress model and being worn:

Overall, I'm very pleased with the result and so is Llywellen!
